The Google Doodles, the illustrations that regularly transform Google’s home page to mark things like holidays . . . famous birthdays . . . and notable discoveries and inventions are becoming a tradition! For example, yesterday the Google Doodle was a tribute of the 20th anniversary of the launch of the Hubble space telescope.

The Google Doodles are newsworthy and often whimsical. During this year’s winter Olympics, Google Doodles recognized a different event every day. And when Sesame Street turned 40 last year, Muppets moved onto Google home pages around the world.

Google Doodles have become an online tradition but the first doodle, put up by company founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1998, was much simpler – a tribute to the Burning Man Festival. CBS News interviewed some of the artists who make up the Google Doodle art team at Google HQ.

My personal favorites were the Sesame Street Google Doodles, what’s your favorite Google Doodle?
